Why Tall Women Should Wear High Heels

So at 6ft2, I’m very tall. If I hadn’t noticed this fact, I would have found out very quickly – from the ten strangers a day who feel the need to let me know.

There are many strange things about being tall but one of the most annoying has to be complete strangers (or fashion professionals incognito??) who feel compelled to tell me that as a tall girl, I should not wear heels.

I didn’t wear heels until my early 20’s because… Continue

Why Do Men and Women Stay Single?

I read this article by Bella DePaulo, BellaDePaulo.com tonight and immediately wondered what The Tall Street Journal citizenry might think about it. We talk plenty on here about the dating troubles of being tall, especially for our tall…

Like your galoshes, Love your umbrella

We should start an umbrellution. Pitch your bleak and broken, eye-threatening umbrellas and invest a lil’ love in a vibrant ‘brella with some tang. Transform the sidewalk into a crusty canvas.

Brighten the canopy. Play in puddles. Prance around the park. You get the idea.

Sounds like bliss. How do we do it?

Let the wise Spokes speak.

Spoke One: Spread the flare via gift-giving. The average person would rather purchase 2 Blue Moons before ever swiping… Continue

Back to the Work World for ME!!!

This week I interviewed with a local catering company for an Event Planner Position. I have been an Event Planner for quiet some time now. I'm very excited to have this position after being on the job hunt for 6 months!!

I must have interviewed at least 50 times with various companies. In today's job market there are countless people applying for the same positions. With Jobs being scarce in general employers are being extra picky about who they hire.

The company… Continue

Fighting Spam on The Tall Street Journal

A few minutes ago we were notified of the Susann B account that joined The Tall Street Journal and subsequently spammed everyone's comments. Her account has been banned and all of her activity on the site has consequently been deleted.

While the computers do a very good job of identifying and removing potential spammers, it is the community that helps in identifying and removing professional spammers and other seedy types.…

Star Trek was pretty frakin AWESOME!! (No spoilers! I promise!)

I'm going to try my very hardest not to let in on what exactly happens in the movie.

Let me first let you all know that I'm pretty much a SciFi Fanatic!! I don't have any claimed allegiance to Star Trek or Star Wars. I do however love the movies!! (My future in-laws however are HUGE Trekies!) I will watch it all! And yes, I do go yo Gen Con every summer. I like to say FRAK! I'm pretty much a geek.

I have already seen the movie, (twice). And I'm ready to see it again,… Continue

The mathematics of glamour = chicken legs + mermaid waves

In mathematics, my nose equals the uniqueness quantification. There is one and only one. That’s why I like schnozzles. Unless you’re Heidi from the Hills, your button is probably pretty rare. Do let your nose speak its own language. Don’t pick or prod … in public.

Moving beyond the world of beaks, I fancy a few other elements in life: imperfections, laughing, and playing with messy art supplies. Really messy. Combining all three is absolutely sublime.

Next time you… Continue

so about working out

I've been working out for the past few months, and I've gained about 35 lbs. I don't look any different unless you'd seen me before and after with my shirt off, but honestly I hoped I would've gotten mroe dramatic results than this.

Anyone else know what I'm talking about?

are people getting taller?

so are people getting taller or shorter?

I feel like I see less and less tall people.

Maybe it's because tall people don't join the navy, or don't live in norfolk.

let's get this going...:-)

The Apprentice Wannabe doing Tall Women No Favours.

What is it with The Apprentice (UK)? It’s like a caricature of women in business – either they are are more aggressive than a Rottweiler with PMT or they are so over-emotional they’d give Gwyneth Paltrow a run for her money doing an Oscar’s acceptance speech.

Everytime a new series turns up, it seems the women follow some kind of un-written script and immediately slot into one of these stereotypes. Once they have done that, you have… Continue

Spring is in the Air

I am loving the weather we are having here in Indy. This weekend is supposed to be one of the best weekends we've had so far this year. I personally am taking advantage of it. I'm planning to make a trip down to my mothers with my Fiances family to have a cook out and talk about wedding plans!! I've got a baseball game to attend. I must say I'm looking forward to a brew and a hot dog.

I do have to slightly rant about Tall Clothing for a moment. My poor fiance. He is quite tall… Continue

Tall Girls: Get your Lingerie Right

Six years ago I was in New York when I saw my first Victoria’s Secret store on a stroll through the South Street Seaport. For a farm girl from the rural Welsh Borders, this store had a kind of mysterious, un-attainable air about it. It was something I had heard of on US shows or had caught of glimpse of when the press mentioned their legendarily glamorous annual catwalk show. The VS models were astoundingly attractive with their eviably fit… Continue

Spring is HERE!!!

Oh good golly Miss Molly!! I'm sooo very excited to finally be over the harsh cold of the winter season. I've been so active lately. It's been great. I have my spring bulbs planted out on my patio. I've completely transformed my Fiances back patio from the bachelor pad into something a little more feminine. Of course nothing is in bloom yet, so it still looks like the patch of dirt it used too. Only now there are a few subtle differences, like the big green pots and the solar lights I've staked… Continue

Evening Gowns for Tall Girls: What, Where & How?

Here we are in the midst of Awards season with the Golden Globes behind us and the Baftas and the Grammys this weekend. The media is full of ‘Best’ and ‘Worst’ dressed lists with Hollywood actresses parading in some seriously glamorous gowns which, for us tall girls seem purely aspirational. Whereas the high street is providing an ever increasing choice of party dresses and evening gowns for your average woman, tall women are left out in the… Continue

I need to take off my grumpy pants and put on my jolly shoes!!

I've been somewhat bummed today. I'm currently unemployed and interviewing like crazy to find another job. I've had 13 interviews in the past 3 weeks. I've been driving all over town, putting on my best face, with my awesome smile and wearing some great shoes!!

Today I'd been feeling like all my efforts have just been completely fruitless. Not only with the Job, but with starting Tall In Indy. I've come across some pretty amazing people lately. It's been really nice. But I had been… Continue
