Good Bye 2009 it was fun while it lasted...Heelllllooooo 2010!!

In my head I've titled this blog like a pick up line. I feel like I've broken up with 2009!! All in all I had a really good year. I started my job with the Catering Company. I started Tall In Indy, (which do to the job has pretty much taken the back burner). It's amazing how much free time you have when you're unemployed and how much time you don't when you work non-stop!!! Since my last blog I've since been promoted!! So... doin' good there!!

I got married this year. Which was a big step in the Grown-up direction for me. I'm still hanging on to the last bits of the single life. It's kind of hard to let go sometimes. I still want to go out with my friends. I still want to go to all the music festivals in the mid-west. I want to party like it's 1999!! LOL My husband is pretty groovy though. He feels the same.

We're not ready to have kids yet. Soooo we rescued a dog. She's part Border Collie, part Lab, her fancy mutt name is "Borador" or "Laberdollie". But to us, she's just Boomer. If you know me and my husband then you also know that we're really big into the SciFi!!! Boomer is a character from BSG. I'll post pictures of her soon. She's been great. We did want to get a puppy, but there are so many animals out there that need homes we decided to rescue instead. It's been pretty easy. She's already house broken, she's still very much a puppy in a sense. She has a ton of energy!! I can't wait for it warm up so that she can get me back in shape!! (Being very happy, and comfortable and married I've gotten fat!)

I'm looking forward to 2010. I'm really looking forward to taking that vacation/honeymoon we've yet to take. Still don't know where yet. I'm really looking forward to doing all the things I really wanted to do last summer but couldn't due to paying for the wedding ourselves and moving into a new house. Both of us worked like crazy last summer too. The company I work for does a lot of the Catering for the Suites at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway and come Race Time there is no such thing as a "weekend off".

I don't really have a lot of New Years resolutions. I find that no one really sticks with them anyway. I know I don't. I just know what needs to be done and there for I'll do it!!

Back to the Work World for ME!!!

This week I interviewed with a local catering company for an Event Planner Position. I have been an Event Planner for quiet some time now. I'm very excited to have this position after being on the job hunt for 6 months!!

I must have interviewed at least 50 times with various companies. In today's job market there are countless people applying for the same positions. With Jobs being scarce in general employers are being extra picky about who they hire.

The company that I'm working for has basically thrown me in with no real training with the idea that I will either sink or swim. Well I can tell you, my tall friends, that not only am I swimming, but I'm swimming laps, running figure eights and biking my way into the Indianapolis 500 Race Day Celebrations.

Unfortunately now that I'm working I will not be able to attend the Carb Day Festival. I will not be out and about with my friends this year being an intoxicated fool. Instead I'll be bringing home the bacon. I like the bacon a little more than a good time at this point in time of my life ;)

Star Trek was pretty frakin AWESOME!! (No spoilers! I promise!)

I'm going to try my very hardest not to let in on what exactly happens in the movie.

Let me first let you all know that I'm pretty much a SciFi Fanatic!! I don't have any claimed allegiance to Star Trek or Star Wars. I do however love the movies!! (My future in-laws however are HUGE Trekies!) I will watch it all! And yes, I do go yo Gen Con every summer. I like to say FRAK! I'm pretty much a geek.

I have already seen the movie, (twice). And I'm ready to see it again, (meaning a third time). I love the role that Zachary Quinto (Spock) has been able to play. Zachary Quinto also plays Sylar on NBC's "Hereos" and I'm in love with him. I will say there were a few scenes where I expected Sylar to use his super Vulcan Mind power to cut open some heads.

I also have to admit that Chris Pine is super yummy. Any female that goes to see this movie is going to instantly fall in love with our young James T. Kerk.

I personally love the fact that this movie takes place in the early years of Star Trek. J.J. Abrams did an excellent job with this movie. The little added twist opens up so many doors for future movies.

Because I don't want to spoil anything for anyone, I'm going to cut this short.

I'm also going to start a SciFi Fanatics Group, so if anybody else would be interested in geeking out with me, please join!!

Spring is in the Air

I am loving the weather we are having here in Indy. This weekend is supposed to be one of the best weekends we've had so far this year. I personally am taking advantage of it. I'm planning to make a trip down to my mothers with my Fiances family to have a cook out and talk about wedding plans!! I've got a baseball game to attend. I must say I'm looking forward to a brew and a hot dog.

I do have to slightly rant about Tall Clothing for a moment. My poor fiance. He is quite tall himself. He's also quite skinny. I keep trying to fatten him, give him a lil' more junk in the trunk. YEAH RIGHT!! I used to think that I had it real hard finding clothes. It's gotten a little easier over the years to find things for myself.

However, shopping for James is tough!! I feel sorry for the Tall men out there. I used to think I had it so rough.

Man was I wrong!!!

Spring is HERE!!!

Oh good golly Miss Molly!! I'm sooo very excited to finally be over the harsh cold of the winter season. I've been so active lately. It's been great. I have my spring bulbs planted out on my patio. I've completely transformed my Fiances back patio from the bachelor pad into something a little more feminine. Of course nothing is in bloom yet, so it still looks like the patch of dirt it used too. Only now there are a few subtle differences, like the big green pots and the solar lights I've staked into the ground. Oh! He also bought me a new wind chime.

Because of the seasonal change I've been putting off Tall IN Indy a little. It's still on the back of my brain and I've been approaching people like crazy. I'm currently working on our first social event. On top of trying to plan my wedding!! I'm still trying to find a job too!! I feel like a crazy person.

There are so many things that I want to do this Summer too. I really want to go to the Rothbury Festival this summer. The Disco Biscuits, Zappa plays Zappa, John Butler, Guster, Flogging Molly, Brett Dennen and soooo many more. I really just want to dance barefoot in the lawn, smell like dirt and BO and do what it is that a person such as myself does at a 3 day outdoor music festy. Tickets are only a little over $300 a person... I fear that with planning my wedding for September, this isn't going to fly.... ***Sad Face***

However there are some Indy shows that I want to see. Jim Gaffigan will be in Indy in May... Hooooot Pockeeeeet!! If you haven't seen any of his stand up, YOUTUBE IT!!! He's a Indiana Native... So you know I gots to show my love.

If you haven't figured this out yet, I'm very persistent and aggressive.

Any way!!! I made my first Vlog for Tall In Indy... Excuse the Lag in the sound and video. (I'm not completely computer savvy!!!<~that's with a v not a w when I re read it it confused ME!) Oh and excuse the Cat.... She loves me a little.

I need to take off my grumpy pants and put on my jolly shoes!!

I've been somewhat bummed today. I'm currently unemployed and interviewing like crazy to find another job. I've had 13 interviews in the past 3 weeks. I've been driving all over town, putting on my best face, with my awesome smile and wearing some great shoes!!

Today I'd been feeling like all my efforts have just been completely fruitless. Not only with the Job, but with starting Tall In Indy. I've come across some pretty amazing people lately. It's been really nice. But I had been feeling like all the reaching out I've been doing I can't seem to break some invisible barrier. I know I'm not going to have over night success. And there is still a lot of work that I need to do.

I'm still working on a Mission Statement. Trying to put everything into writing so that it makes since when I go and meet with the man who is going to be helping me with the Not for Profit portion of what I'm trying to get done. This man who is 6'8" by the way and is donating some of his time to Tall In Indy. He actually went to high school with my mother. They'd become friend because they were both Tall.

I just got home not too long ago and I found sitting in front of my apartment door a package from Eddie Bauer. Inside the package was a pair of size 12 hiking boots that my soon to be mother in law decided to surprise me with. THEY FIT!! I put away my groceries and got online to check my emails and I found that Lonnie Langston, one of the myspace Tall In Indy Members signed up for TTSJ.

So needless to say my spirits have been lifted. Now that I'm home I can relax and do it to it!!
