TOMORROW!!

Hey there folks.

I know I've been MIA... It shouldn't be for too much longer. Work is starting to slow down now that summer and the race seasons are over.

AND my wedding is TOMORROW!!! Thank the heavens!! I'm so ready to have this event come and be done.

I like to have a good time just like the rest of them. But I'm so exhausted and ready to just be DONE!! I've been running around all this past week like a mad women trying to get the last minute items.

I'll tell you what... if any of you are planning to get married anytime soon and you need some pointers on a cheap but nice wedding, get a hold of me. I've given myself a $2000 dollar budget. And I've only touched like $1100. I also have a few great connections around Indianapolis and being an Event Coordinator for a catering company is a big help ;)

I'm hoping that I can get back to all this come Mid October. I hope you all are doing well!

I've been so very busy!!

Well I've only got about 2 months to go until my wedding. I also started a new job as an Event Planner at a local catering company. I'm lovin' it. I'm working full time and then some. My fiance and I are also planning on moving into our new house in just a few short weeks.

I haven't started packing yet which is the scariest thing I've got going on right now.

So needless to say I've put Tall IN Indy on the back burner until I get settled again.

Keep an ear and an eye out!!

April Showeres Brings May Flowers

Not only will we be seeing a plethora of flowers and trees blooming in May, but we'll also have the Indianapolis 500!!

I live in Speedway and I can already tell you that the track is already starting to boom. I can almost smell the Giant Tenderloins, Elephant Ears and BBQ!! I personally can NOT wait to go waste a day playing hookie at the track during time trials.

I'm also looking forward to Carb Day!! Three Doors Down is a pretty decent headliner! It's no Stone Temple Pilots!!! Although to be honest, like most of my fellow Hoosier's I don't really remember when the bands play. This year I'm going to be giving out tickets to Carb Day to some of my Tall IN Indy crew.

Why Ready-to-Wear Never Is

Ready to wear (RTW) or off the rack (OTR) clothing is made to certain standards or average sizes. The human body is seldom average as no two of us are ever alike. So most people, even of “average” height have fitting issues.

I can never wear Levis or Dockers because the rise (from the crotch to the waist) is too short. Even though I am only 5’5” tall, many times I must get tall sizes and cut off 4” from the hem, so the rise is long enough. My limbs are short in proportion to the rest of me.

If you observe couples as they are sitting in folding chairs, you will notice the height difference between a couple is reduced. When standing there may be 6” or more difference in their heights, but seated they may appear about the same. Now notice where their waist is when seated; a man’s belt will be just a few inches from the seat of his chair, but the woman’s waist may be nearly to the back rest of the chair. (The waist is the narrowest part of the body)

Observe people, about the same height, standing. Notice their shoulders, waists, and crotch. You will see these are not all at the same level. Some people will have long torsos, with short limbs. Others will seem to be all legs with short torsos (short waisted).

When my 3 boys were growing up, I made all their clothes when they were in grade school and even some into high school. I always had to take a pants pattern to fit the hips. Then I lengthened in 3 places: the rise, between the crotch and knee, and between the knee & the hem. I usually had to add about 2” to each area for a total of 6”. Ashley, I am sure your mother had to do the same thing for you.

So you can see why by just getting extra length in the inseam doesn’t always work. That is why you tall gals cannot just go buy a pair of men’s pants and expect them to fit.

Men can buy shirts in a “tall shop” with the sleeve length (sleeve length is measured from the spine, across the shoulder, and down the arm, with the arm slightly bent, over the elbow, down to the wrist.) The tall sizes also give you extra torso length. Men can buy pants with a waist and inseam measurement.

But women’s clothing, for some odd reason, never comes in sleeve length or inseam lengths. Go figure.

That is why I stay in business doing custom sewing and alterations, because RTW never is.
